  • Do I have to be experienced with clay to do this course?

    This course is aimed at those who have an basic skill set with ceramics. If you would like to know the things I have assumed you already understand, I have a PDF outlining "The skills you will need' within the course player. If you would like to up-skill before taking this course, I have 3 Introductory courses to get you there, available now. Head to the main home page to see which ones might suit you best.

  • Do I have to be good at art?

    Absolutely not. One of the things I love most about this technique is that skills traditionally valued in art are not necessarily required. Playing with a 3 dimensional form can lead to many surprises!

  • Do I have to use the recommended products?

    All of the tools and materials are flexible. I share my own preferences, though you can absolutely improvise throughout. A list of recommended tools and materials is available in the course player.

  • Do I need access to a kiln?

    Ideally yes, just to see your completed results. If you do not have immediate access however, that is fine. The work will keep until you are ready to fire.

  • Do you include how to make, glaze and fire the clay pieces?

    This course is focused on building and sculpting your forms. I discuss some decorating options, though please join a beginners group or pottery club if you need help, or complete the hand building course first to learn a wide range of beginner skills.
